Villa View De Mer
Complete Review
Words By Aimee Eveleigh Gordon

Fresnaye is the location and seascapes are the core trait of properties situated in this area. Seemingly inconspicuous and concealed from the outside, the villa is accessed via a curving, ascending driveway, accentuated with water-feature cascading wall-fountains. The grand, majestic entrance is framed with a marble, domed arch and the magnificent mahogany door is entered via a charming bridge which curves over a magnificent Koi-Pond. The homes interior is predominantly ensconced with Travertine tiling, marble, sand-blasted glass and Stainless-Steel finishings. The homes ground level is ingeniously designed to be a continual, flowing room which houses both lounges, the bar, kitchen and dining room in one ,seamless extension. The focal core-structure is a wide and spiralling staircase, built squarely in the centre of the ground level. The bar area is primarily crystal, pearly-white marble granite, glass and silver. It is an area designed for the preparation of world-class cocktails and drinks, with every gadget and tool made of the highest quality materials being readily stored in its space. Crystal glass-ware of every conceivable shape and size fill the cabinets. And wall-to-wall mirrors frame the enclosure. The formal lounge is decorated in muted whites, creams and pastel blues. Suede-covered, low-slung couches are arranged around the coffee table, holding priceless;antique sculptures. Authentic Japanese wood-carvings are an obvious antique collection here and the walls are adorned with original Bell etchings and original Tay Dall oil-on-canvas paintings. Glass shelves accompany the sea-colours of the space with beautiful, blown-glass bowls and vases.

The central, entertaining area is accented in gold and sunshine yellow. Low-standing, wide chairs in yellow-gold suede populate the semi-circular arrangement of the room. They have the design hinting at a throwback tribute to an Andy-Warhol -pop-art era. A gigantic gas-lit fireplace is finished with rock-pool pebbles and stainless-steel. The open-plan kitchen is fully-equipped, and that is stated in the most extreme version possible for what -FULLY EQUIPPED-,could possibly be conceived. Dark grey and black marble is the primary material throughout the space, and the rear of this cooks paradise is extended with a scullery, pantry and laundry room. A back, paved Tcourtyard serves as a servants area and herb-garden. The dining table is a Cherry-wood creation formed in an hourglass/oblong shape and it sits twenty people. Serving-ware and cutlery is made of silver and the glass-ware cabinet is filled with crystal glasses. The rear door accesses a small, refrigerated room which serves as a wall-to-wall, floor to ceiling wine cellar. The exterior features a heated pool that is fenced-off with glass panes. The pool sports a waterfall-feature and a fountain. On the left, an outdoor bar and entertaining lounge is protected from the sun by a wide, granite arch, and on the far right; an outdoor formal dining set-set up is functional in its 30plus seating arrangement and sliding-door access into the interior dining-rooms serving area. An outdoor barbecue is built into a wall, making it an ideal Summer location to have a large, outdoor party with a fully-inclusive service and a magnificent view. The pristine white, marbled tiled semi-circular patio extends out toward a wide expanse of green lawn, ending in glass-paned fencing, two-storeys high. The view from this villa is so phenomenal, so spectacular and so majestic, one can literally see the entire scope of the coasts curve. Robben Island, Signal Hill, Lions Head, The V&A Waterfront, the Helderberg Mountains, Green point, Sea Point, Camps Bay and Landudno/Hout Bay, are all included in this birds-eye-view sight. The view itself has resulted in this villa being repeatedly voted as our clients first choice.

Notable mention is due in light of the hi-tech, impenetrable security system installed throughout the villa. A camera watches you as you press the street level intercom bell, cameras have been rigged, very inconspicuously throughout the homes ceiling corners, a superior alarm system and panic-button signalling sensor all contribute to the homes feeling of utter safety, even amidst the isolation & seclusion the location evokes. Walking up the spiral staircase your confronted head-on by a plush, silk and Persian rug scattered opening arranged with reclining style cream-suede furniture. The reason? A massive film theatre-style projection screen, complete with curtains and wings in which to store ones films. A dream for casual entertaining on a cold, stormy night after the last course is served in the dining room. Under-floor heating throughout the home also adds an element of warmth and comfort, as the house is so utterly vast and marbled/tiled. Four bedrooms are accessed to the right of the carpeted passage. The biggest two are fitted with TV, DVD, air-con and heating appliances. The colour scheme throughout has been selected with browns, beige s, golds and creams. All rooms have luxuriant vanity desk fittings with mirrors, mirrors and more mirrors. The first and last bedroom have en-suite facilities with all the expected, luxury trimmings. Themed with the pinkish-hue d travertine, porcelain and sand-blasted glass, the bathrooms in this house are singularly as desirable to be in as is with any other room! The three rooms located on the sea-facing side of the house, all have sliding-glass door exits. These three may all be used to access the conjoined, timber balcony deck; complete with a grass-furnished exterior lounge.

Back inside, walking again past the theatre-lounge to the opposite end of this decadent refuge, is the grandest of all 5 bedrooms. Serving to be the master suite, this room champions all master-suites in the entire history of mentionable master-suites. This room has been designed along the guideline that inevitably intends for it to have the most complete and fully-revolutionary view of the shoreline. From here it is possible to see as far as the Table View beach and ones eye line almost catches the coasts curvature as it bends itself into its West-Coast form. The scene of the mountains makes jaws drop to the ground, as Signal Hill, Lions Head and the Helderberg mountain range feel close enough to reach out and touch with your fingertips. Creamy, plush carpeting is adorned with silky,Persian rugs and a glass-paned door opens up to a private, shaded balcony alcove. This space is magical, with a built in double-seater bed-couch. Additionally, a private outdoor lounge is quaintly arranged, making it a romantic little venue in which to enjoy an evening of secluded celebration. Inside again, a state of the art telescope provides a monumental opportunity to study the constellations at night from this phenomenally well-placed perch at the top of the world. A ceiling-hung, giant sized plasma screen TV is complimented with a fully-equipped entertainment facility and the Queen bed is again, placed conveniently in line with the panoramic seascape exterior. To the left, a magnificently designed walk-around wardrobe offers a wall-to wall view of ones reflection via the repeated sequence of elongated mirrors. The bathroom will make even the toughest customer eventually sigh in satisfaction. A beautifully tiled steam-room is built into a corner and is complete with the most desirable amount of seating and stretching space. A jacuzzi-bathtub also faces the breathtaking exterior, and as a final highlight, the shower is made for two. As a flameless, clear glass room on its own; the shower features two water-heads and is literally a small, hot-water raining room that holds two people very comfortably. The bathroom is subtly shaded in soft,dusty-rose pinks and travertine tiling.

This house is in itself an achievement which far surpasses the mere description of an opulent villa. From the perspective of it being an artistic creation, it is beyond a doubt, a masterpiece work of art. No villa has ever succeeded in incorporating its internal space, design elements and its exterior in a way that is equally blissful in whichever which part one chooses to spend time. This villa redefines the notion of being somewhere that evokes the feeling of being utterly spoiled for choice. It quite honestly affords itself the status of being a place where you find yourself having to take mini time -outs, whilst walking from room to room. Its not possible to do so otherwise, as one would by no means be able to possibly absorb the degree of exquisiteness all at once.
