Completely rebuilt in 2005, this discreetly located three-bedroom property occupies a lofty site located directly above Bantry Bay on the Ravine Road cul-de-sac. Thoroughly modern throughout, the uninterrupted views from all the bayfront-facing rooms over the crashing surf rocks beneath and comparatively wind-free environment make this an ideal entertaining venue. Steps to the left-hand side of the house lead down directly to the bay while all Sea Point amenities are within a ten minute walk.
A large circular mirror in the entrance foyer signals the strong design statements of the villa as rendered in the signature colours of black, white and reflective silver. Grey slate stone floors are used throughout in flooring or soft deep-pile carpet in the bedrooms of the same colour. Clean geometric lines and architectural framing by full-height patio doors and large mirrors maximise the sense of airy space in the villa while always highlighting the sea views. Two bedrooms, one also convertible into an office lead off the main entrance foyer. To the left is the main en suite guest bedroom which features ample wardrobe space and incorporates distinctive waist-high glass balcony perimeters which are used throughout. To the other side is another bedroom with walk-on terrace. This room is equipped with a 24-inch state-of-the-art HD Apple computer and office facilities. The double garage and storage room, ideal for golf clubs or mountain bikes, is reached from off the foyer (which also has an additional freezer).
The master en suite bedroom is rendered in a themed combination of broad white surfaces, grey carpet, silvery curtains and large mirrors while large conical lampshades and an animal skin grain headboard are distinctive features. Behind the bed is a recessed walk-though generous wardrobe area with further concealed storage. The bathroom commands the same stunning views as the bedroom and incorporates such subtly-effective touches as a double shower on a slightly sloped heated floor. From here one can take a bath and feel as though you are floating on the sea which extends beyond. Again, the framing device of the full-height patio doors invite your eye out on to the sea beyond. There is also an outdoor shower here too should you wish to take in the Lion’s Head aspect. There is a large patio terrace and barbecue/braai area reached through the master bedroom which enjoys views of Lion’s Head to the rear. The home can comfortably accommodate fifty guests. All the European-inspired furnishings are new and of the highest standards of design and quality.
As one descends the stairs to the main entertainment reception area on the lower floor one is struck by the spacious dimensions of clean, seamless lines. A very large (over 3 metres wide) mirror ingeniously reflects the sea outside providing s ea-views when even facing to the interior. A generously-proportioned double width white leather L-shaped sofa is the main focal point here over a dark-stained wooden parquet floor which faces a white pebble gas flame fireplace and large plasma television. The feel is one of minimalist chic. However an area of green lawn softens the outlook and breaks up the textures and linear geometry. From here one can survey expansive views of Robben Island as the horizon extends beyond dotted with speedboats. The terrace leads on to a pool which has shelf allowing one to enjoy the views while sipping sundowners. The living room also has two cleverly concealed storage spaces (utilities here include a washer and dryer and double fridge) and a guest bathroom behind white flush doors. The kitchen sunk a step off to one side is of white ceasar stone counter surfaces contrasting with gray slate while there is also an adjacent kitchenette for additional catering. The fridge-freezer has an ice-maker and cold-water dispenser. An amusingly novel chrome–effect knife-stand (of a figure being run-through!) and vase container catch the eye.
There is 24-hour security for peace of mind. The owner’s metallic grey Porsche Cayenne can also be at the residents’ disposal.
