| A curvaceous six-bedroomed villa that maximizes the spectacular views of the coastline, and one of the very few with access to a roof terrace, this spacious beach villa is a wonderfully versatile choice for families or friends sharing. A short walk up the stairs from the garage brings you up to the garden terrace with a raised rim-flow pool that has views of the sea below and mountains behind. Two large alfresco tables: one in the garden and the other under a covered terrace with a gas barbeque and a standing gas heater, suggest that eating outdoors is the way to go in summer. Inside, the living area is lined with fold-away glass doors for great indoor-outdoor flow. Two gas fireplaces – one in the intimate dining room and the other in the open-plan living room – add warmth on cooler evenings. The dining room is particularly pretty at night, with dozens of twinkling lights set into the ceiling. A well-equipped designer kitchen with a separate utility area is adjacent to the dining area and Villa del Capo’s resident Malawian butler is available to assist with meals, if necessary too. Grand spiral staircases link the three floors and the second-floor bedrooms are all en-suite, each one with beautifully fitted and generous dressing rooms (these, in particular, have to be the best-fitted and most spacious on this coastline). The immaculate bathrooms are all designed to take in the views and some are open-plan with freestanding baths, giving a sense of space. All sea-facing bedrooms upstairs have access to the curvy balcony with beautiful views from Camps Bay right through to Llandudno and the mountains beyond. There’s also a second lounge on the landing with its own television, which is ideal for families sharing or for friends who have children. Off this lounge is a large wooden deck that’s partially shaded by a tall tree in the central courtyard below – a wonderfully peaceful spot with dappled light, and perfect for breakfasts. The spiral staircase continues up from the family television lounge on the landing to the roof terrace above. Although not recommended for young children, this is the most spectacular setting to host summer cocktails with its 360° views of the sea below, the mountains behind, and entire Atlantic coastline beyond. Villa del Capo has one of the highest parking allocations of any of the beach villas: there’s space for nine cars: four in the garages with direct access to the garden and house, and five off-street parkings. Camps Bay beach and its vibrant restaurants are a mere 350m away. Camps Bay Drive is one of the most convenient addresses as it connects directly with the main route leading to Table Mountain, the City and Waterfront over Kloof Nek. |
