Central Drive Camps Bay

This flexible, simple home is both intimate and spacious with rustic wooden window shutters, wooden framed doors and beautiful wood panelling, lovely smooth wooden floors and exposed beams, a home that retains its original simplicity with a mix of pieces that reflect the passage of time that comes with age and everyday use, evidence of how a warm, cosy space can be controversially beautiful. A picturesque setting with Table Mountain and the Twelve Apostles sitting in the background, this Tuscan style villa has views stretching out over the startling beauty of Camps Bay beachfront, only a two-minute walk down the road and one of the most beautiful in the world and Lions Head. Cape Town city centre, where every corner is different is a short drive away as well as the V & A Waterfront full of character and charm with its variation of restaurants, shops, live entertainment and boat cruises.

The exterior of this gorgeous home is naturally alluring and individual with its Tuscan colour walls and ornate balcony that surrounds the back of the house. The informal entrance hall shows the decorative, unpretentious and comfortable style of its interior with a leather sofa!! The living room is laid out with comfort in mind with two extra-large, uniquely beautiful, aged dark brown leather sofas and one big chair, a large wooden coffee table with drawers on an oriental detailed rug that brightens the room and ties the collection of perfect one-off pieces together, a self-standing black iron candelabrum, .a fire place set in stone radiating warm glamour, satellite big-screen television and doors with textured blinds that lead to the outdoor area creating an outdoor/indoor space to really live in and enjoy.

The dining area is a mix of antique and modern with a modernized chandelier that hangs above a wooden table with eight weaved chairs on an ethnic kelim and a wooden server. The dining room and kitchen are open planned, perfect for dining and the tiled kitchen has a huge black marble dotted work island, baskets in built-in shelving, country herbs hanging above a wooden hob cover, windows to a rocky wall outside and doors that lead on to the garden and swimming pool.

The upstairs landing/sitting room complements the easy style of this house with a wooden framed, weaved coffee table and matching sofa chair, a wooden chest of tiny drawers, fitted wardrobes and double doors that open up on to the wrought- ironwork balcony outside. To the front it has a majestic little balcony that overlooks the sea directly ahead and Lions Head right next-door with a comfortable patio couch to relax, kick your shoes off, read your book and enjoy the tranquil weather.

The three bedrooms upstairs have a timeless quality that sets the mood for relaxation with a combination of tradition, comfort and elegance and perfectly matching tones. The whole carpeted upstairs opens up to the outdoors to reveal views of Table Mountain as a wonderful backdrop, Lions Head and the sea, and the contrast of the ocean view light, mirrors, dark wood furniture and finishes creates a fresh scheme. The first bedroom has a graceful ornate four-poster queen size bed, handsome old dressing table and cabinet, large windows with magnificent views and doors to the back garden balcony. Bedroom two has a queen size bed with a futon mattress and large windows and the main bedroom has an ornate king size polished wooden bed, a large fitted wooden table beneath the window, a wooden chez lounge, windows that face Lions Head and Table Mountain and doors to the back balcony. All three bedrooms have plenty fitted long white wardrobes and the separate bathroom is covered in tiny cream and beige tiles, a corner vanity area, corner glass shower, a white shell-shaped corner bathtub and a large window. The main bedroom has a big en-suite bathroom with a separate shower, big corner bath and double vanity basins.

The bedroom downstairs has wooden floors that are smooth underfoot, a queen size bed with a futon mattress and windows. The bathroom, also wooden floored has a bathtub, a large window and a separate loo.

A sense of wildness exists outdoors with towering glossy trees and branches that stretch up to the bedrooms creating magic in the shadows of sunlight through the leaves throwing moody shades over the courtyard. The garden is divided into two halves where a deep grey-blue swimming pool with paved decking is surrounded by pillars planted with climbers, large pots, a hammock and outdoor furniture including a portable barbeque. Cement steps with an iron balustrade and herbaceous borders lead up to the far end of the garden where a path takes you to a courtyard for entertaining with a large built-in barbeque and a large private hot tub/Jacuzzi, somewhere to go and relax, with access to the entire upstairs of the house.

A house to be filled with family, friends, abundant food and endless flowers.
