Situated in discreet Strathmore Road, this modern villa is in an excellent position. Relatively quiet in season, it has easy access to the beach along a stepped pathway that takes you down the hill in five minutes, as the house is literally a block-and-a-half from the beach. With its spectacular views of the coastline and its many levels adding privacy, it’s the ideal hideaway for couples or two families sharing.

This triple-storey villa has spacious accommodation on the lower and upper floors, and the central floor is a living and entertaining area with good flow out to a wooden deck. Emphasis is on natural materials and maximum use of light and views, through floor-to-ceiling glass doors and windows.

In the light-filled, open plan living area, the dove-grey kitchen is thoughtfully designed with a central hob and counter, which is ideal for entertaining with friends. To the right of the kitchen is a concealed utility area. Generous sofas are grouped around a stone-clad gas fireplace, the focus of the lounge, and glass doors line the front façade of the house so that the view can be enjoyed from the entire floor, including the dining area.

Upstairs, the whole floor is dedicated to an enormous master suite with an open-plan bathroom and study area, enjoying more spectacular views from the bed and balcony. A large oval bath with views of the coast below and a double shower with a view to the garden behind are set in this lofty space, which is wonderfully indulgent in both its spaciousness and flow to the outdoors. One wall is lined with cupboards and the décor is contemporary African with a dark wood and grey finishes contrasting with white fittings, striking black and white photography and an Nguni rug on the painted cement floors. The garden is also easy to access from this lofty bedroom suite.

On the lower floor, there are three bedrooms: the well-proportioned master bedroom with a generous en suite and sea views, and two others with a spacious shared bathroom. Most of the lower floor has gleaming wooden parquet floors for added warmth and the shared bathroom is done in rich chocolate-greys with a view out to a stone-clad wall and light filled area planted with succulents. All four bedrooms are fitted with crisp white linen and bathroom fittings are contemporary and modern.

To the right of the entrance and lounge are glass doors leading outside to a wind-protected patio that may be lit by magical fairy lights in the evening, and has steps leading up to a tranquil, semi-tropical garden terrace above, which has a charming plunge pool with uninterrupted views. This upper terrace is shaded on one side, making it the ideal place to relax with a good book or take a siesta.
